Resident FAQs

1. How do I pay my rent?

Rent payments can be made conveniently through your Resident Portal. Log in to your account to make a one-time payment or set up recurring/automatic payments. Your Resident Portal also allows you to view your account balance and payment history.

2. How do I submit a maintenance request?

Routine maintenance requests should be submitted through your Resident Portal. Providing a detailed description of the issue and photos, when helpful, allows our maintenance team to better understand the problem and arrive prepared to make the repair.

If you are experiencing a maintenance emergency, follow your property's emergency maintenance instructions and contact the appropriate emergency number immediately.

3. What is considered a maintenance emergency?

A maintenance emergency is generally an issue that presents an immediate threat to health, safety, or significant property damage if it is not addressed promptly.

Examples may include:

  • An active water leak or flooding
  • A significant plumbing or sewer backup
  • Loss of heat during periods of extreme cold
  • Electrical hazards, such as sparking or exposed wiring
  • A situation that creates an immediate risk of serious damage to the apartment or building

If you are unsure whether an issue is an emergency, contact your property team for guidance. Do not use emergency maintenance for routine repairs that can safely wait until normal business hours.

4. How do I contact my property?

Each WPL community has its own management team and contact information. Visit the property page for your community to find the property's phone number, email address, office hours and other contact information.

5. How do I access the Resident Portal?

Your Resident Portal is your central location for managing many aspects of your residency, including making rent payments, submitting maintenance requests, communicating with your property team and managing renters insurance information.

If you need assistance accessing your portal or have forgotten your login information, contact your property management team.

6. How do I submit proof of renters insurance?

Proof of renters insurance can be submitted through your Resident Portal. Your policy must meet the insurance requirements outlined in your lease.

If you have questions about the required coverage or whether your policy meets the requirements, please contact your property management team.

7. How do I give notice that I am moving out?

If you plan to move at the end of your lease, you must provide notice according to the terms of your lease and applicable law.

Please contact your property management team before giving notice so they can provide you with the appropriate move-out instructions and requirements.

8. How do I add a pet or companion animal to my lease?

Before bringing a new pet or companion animal into your apartment, contact your property management team to complete any required documentation.

Do not bring a new pet or companion animal into your apartment before receiving approval. Restrictions, fees and requirements may vary by community.

9. How do I access information about my community?

Visit your property's page on the WPL website for community-specific information, including amenities, contact information, location and available apartments.

For information specific to your residency—such as parking, trash, package delivery, community rules or maintenance—contact your onsite management team or refer to your Resident Portal.

10. What should I do if I have a question that isn't answered here?

We're happy to help. Start by visiting your property page to find your community's phone number and contact information. Your onsite management team is the best resource for questions about your lease, account, apartment or community.
